The Diverse Education Culture.

Getting It started.
Education These Days....
Going by the overall importance of education and its demand in the society, it should be admitted that education helps in shaping up careers. As a matter of fact, the world demands educated people at every step. Education not only trains the mind, but it also helps a student in taking the correct decision. Therefore, education also instills the sense of rationality in us.The process of education is different for different people. It should usually involve the process of gathering knowledge from whatever aspects possible and the education given also differs in different countries as well and here we will be considering the difference in the education system and pattern in India and UK.
Education Pattern in India.

India has a rich history of education and education system. The education in India can be dated back to ancient time when universities of Nalanda and Takshila were the prominent educational hubs.
Nowadays education has taken a completely different form. Though the economic conditions are not good in many part of country but still it can be said that India has made a lot of progress in the educational field. The literacy rate has been extended to about 2/3rd of the population. The major step was the establishment of university grant commission in 1953 to patronize higher education in India. The main focus has been in providing quality education to one and all.

Education in India falls under the control of both the Union Government and the states, with some responsibilities lying with the Union and the states having autonomy for others. The various articles of the Indian Constitution provide for education as a fundamental right. Most universities in India are controlled by the Union or the State Government.

Present education scenario.
The National Council for Education Research and Training is the apex body which governs all the syllabi and curriculum related matters for school education in India. It also provides technical aid and support to the schools in India. In India various bodies governing education are:
  • State and government schools.
  • Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
  • Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE)
  • National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
  • International schools affiliated to international Baccalaureate.
And the management of education system and teacher certifications are responsibilities of National University of Education Planning and Administration (NUEPA) and National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
  • Lack of political will power and quality teachers. Most of the teachers employed are not up to the mark and lack proper teaching techniques.
  • The curriculum is based on learning rather than problem solving to encourage student participation. This system of education in India has become old, there is need to introduce amendments.
  • The dropout rate is still high at the secondary level. The enrolment rate has increased but the total rate is still not satisfactory.
There are ups and down but a firm motivation will surely make India soar high in educational sector also.
Education Pattern In United Kingdom.

Education in England is overseen by the Department for Education and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. Local authorities(LA) take responsibility for implementing policy for public education and state schools at a regional level.
The education system is divided into nursery (ages 3–4), primary education (ages 4–11), secondary education (ages 11–18) and tertiary education (ages 18+).

The government introduced a standardised national curriculum for all students aged 7-16, in an attempt to ensure that all pupils studied a minimum depth and breadth of curriculum which poses a huge problem. There have been two major policies introduced to raise UK participation in post compulsory education. Many of the newer vocational qualifications have very little labour market value, suggesting that they have not been successful in drawing young people into high quality learning In addition to concerns about participation  and examination achievement, it has also been recognised by education policy-makers that the UK has a particular problem with basic skills, unlike in other countries, in the UK numeracy and literacy skill levels actually start to fall among younger workers. This was suggestive that the UK education system was becoming increasingly less effective in producing workers with adequate levels of basic skills.

The contrast between the education
system in India and UK.

Education is the key foundation for the success of any country and the betterment of any individual. However, given the culture and mindset of different races, there is a different approach towards education. And to be more precise, there is a difference between the approach towards education in the western countries and in India. Apparently, the fundamental is that there is a chalk and cheese difference in the objective of education in both sides.
Apparently, the foreign students treat education more like a learning process. On the other hand, they choose the line they are interested in and go only for that course and line of career. In this process, they tend to wait for the right kind of job and don't really consider time as a hindrance. On the other hand, the objective of education in India has more to do with a fat salaried job, overseas chances, better marriage prospects, status in society etc.
However, analysts on both sides say there is a lot of difference in terms of competition, aptitude and the job markets in both hemispheres. While things are rather relaxed owing to the lesser population, more streamlined procedure and lack of unfair means, things are quite different when it comes to India. As such, money becomes the root cause since most of the higher end courses are taken on study loan. So, it is more about circumstances than choices for many students. However, to those who manage to get admission in the foreign schools, once adaptability is achieved, the path is set and clear. Also, given the infrastructure, access to various resources and other facilities, the quality tends to be higher in terms of conducive learning. Though changes are being noticed in India with top league B-Schools focusing on quality and better infrastructure, there is still that gap between foreign schools and Indian educational institutions. With globalisation happening rapidly and economies getting tighter in developed countries, changes are being noticed so let us see how things take shape.Together, the UK and India are leaders in ensuring that knowledge sectors drive inclusive economic growth in the 21st century. There is a significant increase in the UK/India partnership on education, covering primary education, higher and further education and research into the most advanced technologies.
There are over 80 collaborative UK-India programmes leading to UK degrees or awards in India.  There are some 5,000 Indians studying for UK degrees in India. The UK is the home of the English language. The UK leads in the teaching of Business English providing skills for better employability in India. British Council is working towards reaching 100m English learners in the next few years and its Project English initiative has impacted on 17million learners across India.

About The Project.

Education in its broadest, general sense is the means through which the aims and habits of a group of people sustain from one generation to the next. Generally, it occurs through any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts.
